Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 Story Sentence
Please add your comment to this post to suggest an initial sentence for my storytelling event on Thursday, Feb, 16, 2006 @ 2200 EST. See you then...
Welcome to Stories by the Fireside!
This is a blog to help to revive the acient art of storytelling as a method of entertainment and preserving history. Being a professional storyteller, I have spent many years creating stories for my clients, but usually via the "in person" genre. Finding myself a bit incapacitated, I discovered that a blog might be the alternative media I need to practice my craft and provide a small bit of interactive storytelling to the "blogosphere" as I have heard it called.
So, here is the gig: beginning on a weekly basis, I will tell a story where the first sentence is suggested by one of the audience. Since one can post the initiating sentence as a response to my weekly storytelling event, I will tell the story in real time since I have taught myself how to type quite well using the Dvorak-style keyboard. Due to the time lag of the blogging site I am using, the story will unfold in segments and will continue for about 45-60 minutes and will comprise a complete episode or serial, as they were one called. During the story, I will be able to view the comments and flames, I am sure, from the listeners. I am even vary the tale based on this interactive comments. Storytelling needs to be revived and I will begin here...
My first storytelling period will be under the following condititions:
Thursday, February 16, 2006 @ 2200 hrs (EST: eastern standard time)
I will be here at the blog to find the sentence, if there is one posted, or I will provide one with the given topic providing no one has suggested one:
"The evening began as quietly as the day had begun at the home of Brandon Muller, the town's oldest and richest citizen where Mr. Muller had just finished his dinner in solataire..."
Hope to see everyone interested in the fine art of storytelling, and please excuse my lack of perfect spelling; I will try, but my significant other (SO) is much better at that than I. ;-)
